Description
Why This Minoxidil Is Different
Unlike standard formulations, which are produced on a large industrial scale, this Minoxidil is made in small, carefully controlled batches.
Mass-produced versions often feel heavier, stickier, and less pleasant to use, which can discourage regular application — particularly for those with longer hair.
This formulation has a lighter, more refined texture, allowing it to absorb quickly into the scalp without leaving residue.
The result is a clean, non-greasy finish that fits easily into your daily routine — making consistent use far more achievable.

Enhanced, Targeted Formulation
This is not just standard Minoxidil.
The triple action formulation works on multiple levels:
Medroxyprogesterone (MPG) – helps counteract the thinning effects of DHT (dihydrotestosterone), a key hormone responsible for male and female pattern hair loss
Azelaic Acid – acts as an additional vasodilator, supporting increased blood flow and enhancing the effectiveness of Minoxidil
Minoxidil – stimulates dormant follicles and supports regrowth
These combined actions make the formulation more effective than using standard Minoxidil alone.
How Minoxidil Works
Minoxidil works through several key mechanisms:
Acts as a vasodilator, increasing blood flow to the hair follicles
Helps to stimulate dormant follicles, encouraging them back into the growth phase
Prolongs the anagen (growth) phase of the hair cycle
Helps reverse follicle miniaturisation, allowing finer hairs to thicken over time
By improving circulation and follicle activity, Minoxidil supports stronger, thicker, and more sustained hair growth.
Bespoke Formulations Available (When Needed)
The standard 5% formulation with medroxyprogesterone and azelaic acid is what I recommend for the vast majority of clients.
In fact, around 99% of my clients use this formulation, as it provides the best balance of effectiveness, tolerance and results.
To keep things simple and ensure consistency, this is the option most people start with and continue long term.
However, if there is a specific reason to adjust the formulation, alternative options can sometimes be arranged, such as:
Lower strength (e.g. 2%)
With or without certain additions
These are tailored on a case-by-case basis and, due to the additional formulation involved, pricing will usually be higher than the standard option.
For this reason, bespoke variations are only recommended where genuinely necessary.
How to Use (For Best Results)
For optimal results, apply 1 ml twice daily to the affected areas of the scalp.
Apply to a clean, dry or towel-dried scalp
Target areas such as temples, hairline, crown or patches
Gently massage to ensure even coverage
Allow to absorb before styling
If blow drying, use a cooler setting where possible.
Important: Dosage & Bottle Duration
Each bottle is designed to last approximately 1 month when used correctly (1 ml twice daily).
You may notice that some over-the-counter products suggest once daily use. While this is sometimes done for convenience or tolerance, twice daily application delivers stronger and more consistent results, which is why this is my recommended approach.
If you choose to use it once daily, your bottle will last longer, but results may be slower or less effective.
What to Expect
Some shedding may occur in the first few weeks (temporary)
Results typically begin from 4–6 months
Best results are achieved with consistent, long-term use
If stopped, hair may gradually return to its previous shedding pattern.
Scalp Health & Possible Side Effects
For best results, Minoxidil should be applied to a healthy, intact scalp.
If you have an active scalp condition such as:
Inflamed or irritated scalp
Psoriasis
Severe dermatitis
Broken or damaged skin
It is best to address this first before starting treatment.
Mild dandruff or occasional flaking is usually not a problem. However, if the scalp is very inflamed, sensitive, or uncomfortable, improving scalp health first will help ensure better tolerance and results.
Side effects are uncommon but may include:
Mild scalp irritation or itching
Temporary shedding in the early stages
Headaches (rare)
Some women may notice fine, downy facial hair. This is uncommon and usually mild.
If it does occur, it can be easily managed easily and cheaply, with standard facial hair removal creams. It is also often a sign that you are responding well to the treatment, and reducing the frequency of application may help if needed.
If you experience any persistent irritation or concerns, discontinue use and seek advice.
A More Complete Approach
While Minoxidil works well on its own, results are often enhanced when combined with internal nutritional support.
When nutrients are circulating through the bloodstream and Minoxidil is applied to targeted areas, the vasodilation effect helps draw those nutrients directly to the follicles — similar in principle to PRP treatments, but without the cost or invasiveness.
This approach has been used in practice with consistently strong results across a wide range of hair loss concerns.
For this reason many clients choose to combine this with Hair Today More Tomorrow, M&O’s supplement, which provides a strong foundation for healthy hair growth, energy and overall wellbeing.
